The University of Oviedo is a public institution of higher education with more than 400 years of history. Currently, the number of students is 26,000 and the number of international students has been growing steadily over the last few years. This institution has set a clear internationalization policy in order to improve its international visibility, and it is strongly committed to the promotion of international agreement and the establishment of global partnerships with other academic institutions. The University of Oviedo provides students with a wide academic offer at both undergraduate and graduate levels, including Master’s Degrees, PhD Programs and specific courses. It offers studies in the areas of humanities (languages and philology, philosophy, arts, geography), sciences (biology, biotechnology, chemistry, physics, mathematics and geology), health sciences (medicine, nursing, physiotherapy) and engineering (electrical, electronic, computing, mechanical). The University of Oviedo is one of the 9 institutions awarded with the Campus of International Excellence in 2009 by the Spanish Ministry of Education. The University of Oviedo has long experience with European and transnational research, innovation and teaching projects. Currently it coordinates Erasmus Mundus PUEDES and MEDASTAR, and it works as a partner in SWAP and TRANSFER, EUREKA and MOVER, among many other projects.
Role in project
UNIOVI will be involved in the implementation of all work packages and activities on the proposed project, and they will give a special contribution through expertise in the methodology of teaching of natural and mathematical sciences, as well as through expertise in the use of modern information and communication technologies in the teaching and learning process. They will host several visits by the representatives of PC HEIs, and during these visits they will demonstrate their experiences in the aforementioned areas and they will hold several short intensive training sessions on these topics. They will also participate in training of teaching staff that will be held at PC universities.
