3. Professional development of teaching staff

Description

The main objective of the WP3 is to train and re-train teaching staff of the PC HEIs
in order to keep abreast with the latest developments in the areas of teaching
methodology in higher education, modern pedagogical approaches and
technology enhanced teaching and learning. Simultaneously, the aim is to raise the
general awareness of all stakeholders of the necessity of improving the quality of
teaching and learning in higher education by adopting modern pedagogical
approaches and using the latest technological achievements and to encourage
them for active involvement in the realisation of these improvements. Final goal is
implementation of new/modified courses in line with modern European
standards. The process of achieving these objectives will start with the Workshop
on innovative teaching and learning methodologies and pedagogical approaches,
that will be organised as the first activity in the WP1. Within the next activities a
series of training courses for teaching staff will be organised: in pedagogy and
teaching methodology, in the use of new educational technologies and for
teaching and academic writing in English. These courses will enhance the teaching
competences and professional skills of teaching staff to enable them to keep pace
with the global trends in the field of teaching and learning in higher education. The
training courses organised in the framework of the previous activities will grow
into regular courses of continuing professional development of teaching staff.

These courses will be verified by the Academic Councils of the faculties, accredited
by the national accreditation body and realised by the center for career guidance
what is predicted by the Law on Higher Education in Serbia. Within the activities in
WP3 several new/modified elective master study courses in psychology,
pedagogy, teaching methodology and technology enhanced education, specially
designed for master students who plan to become university teachers, will be
introduced, approved/ accredited and implemented in educational process.
